The Renewable Materials Company

“One of the projects I’m involved with is producing carbon fibre from a mixture of lignin and cellulose. Our goal is to produce a cost-competitive carbon fibre on a commercial scale from renewable resources. We’re working on a novel process with selected R&D partners, with encouraging progress. This type of research is time-consuming though so it will take time before we see any such products on the market.

“One of the great things about working here at our new Innovation Centre is that we have top scientists with different fields of expertise all working together, and we’re acting as a bridge between the research that’s going on globally and how you can apply that to our current or future customer businesses. It’s a very dynamic environment.”
