The Renewable Materials Company

Marimekko is a Finnish design house celebrated worldwide for its original prints and colours. “We love bold prints and wood-based textiles, viscose in particular, as they allow us to create especially bright and lasting colours. They are easy to dye and print on, which makes them a good material for a design house like us. We feel that wood-based fibres are very diverse. You can make many different kinds of fabrics from them. We use viscose mainly for long dresses and wider pants that have an ‘airy’ feel to them,” says Emmakaisa Soisalo, Marimekko’s Design & Product Development Manager and Designer Ready-to-Wear.
